Bradford Bulls stars facing race to be fit for Castleford Tigers as injury update issued

Bradford Bulls are still holding out hope that two of their key players can make an injury return on Thursday night against Castleford Tigers.

Waqa Blake and Rowan Milnes have been two of the Bulls’ most important players in the early rounds of Super League but they both missed Friday night’s win over Huddersfield Giants, and could still miss Thursday night’s game when Bradford travel to Wheldon Road.

Asked about the pair, assistant coach Lee Greenwood said: “They’re still possibles, to be honest. I know the game’s only Thursday and not too far away, but we still haven’t finished training today. Obviously, it’s a couple of days before Thursday, so we’re hopeful.”

Blake suffered a shoulder knock against St Helens whilst Milnes was a late pull-out last week due to an Achilles injury with the Bulls set to make a call after their training on Monday as to whether the pair are named in the squad.

Greenwood explained: “Your likes of Rowan and Waqa, they’ve both done some training today. We’re going back out soon to do some more and obviously there’s a couple of days to the game.

“We just need to see how they are today, whether we can name them in the 21, which needs to be named tomorrow.”

Bradford Bulls’ injury update as club weigh up surgery for star

One man who will not be named in the squad is Eribe Doro with Kurt Haggerty previously confirming that the former Hull KR man is set for around eight weeks on the sidelines due to an ankle injury.

“No,not yet,” Greenwood said when asked by Serious About Rugby League if the Bulls have decided on rehabbing the forward with or without surgery.

He added: “We’re still looking at that and the best sort of form of rehab. Obviously, I’ve known Eribe quite a while now and does seem to recover quite quickly so we’re hoping to shave some time off that, whichever route we go down.

“There’s been no decision yet, I don’t think, on which way we’re attacking it.”

Ebon Scurr is another forward on the injury list with an update offered, confirming: “He’s probably a few weeks off yet. He’s trying to shave a week off it, but he’s back in rehab. He’s all going to plan so there’s potential he’s going to be back in the next two or three games possibly.”

One man who will return to the pack this week is Loghan Lewis with his two-game ban now served whilst Elliot Peposhi will be eligible to face Leeds Rhinos next week after serving his three-game ban.

Brandon Douglas (HIA) could return this week but Zac Fulton will have to wait until the clash against the Rhinos as a late reporting of his HIA means he misses Thursday night’s game.
