Bradford Bulls sign former NRL and Leigh full-back as Super League squad fills out

Bradford Bulls have added yet another signing as they ready themselves for Super League in 2026 with a former NRL man now arriving.

Caleb Aekins left the NRL to sign with Leigh Centurions in 2022 where he was part of their dominant Championship-winning season, scoring 21 tries during his 32 appearances.

The full-back didn’t follow Leigh to Super League as he instead made the switch to Featherstone Rovers, where he has spent the past three seasons, racking up 44 tries in 82 appearances but he’ll now be calling Odsal home after completing a move to Bradford Bulls.

Aekins is one of several signings that Bradford have made for 2026 following their promotion to Super League with the Bulls expected to have a new-look spine that features Aekins, as well as fellow signings Rowan Milnes and Jayden Nikorima.

They’ll also have a new coach with Kurt Haggerty arriving after he left Salford Red Devils and Haggerty had plenty of raps for new recruit Aekins.

He explained: “Caleb is another player who shows we’ve been doing our homework, he’s somebody that I tracked for a little bit in my time at Salford. I’ve seen him in particular when he was full-time at Leigh Leopards (nee Centurions), He’s quick, he’s elusive, he’s very good in and around the ruck but he’s also good on the edge of shapes as well.

“There’s a lot of parts of his game that I really like, I’m really looking forward to seeing what Caleb can do in the Bulls shirt, I really think we can help him kick on to the next part of his journey and his career.”

Speaking on the move, Aekins said: “I am really happy to be joining the Buls and I’m grateful for the opportunity. Obviously it is a very exciting time for everyone involved to be back in Super League and I can’t wait to be a part of such a special chapter in the history of this great club.”

The 27-year-old made 19 NRL appearances before his switch to the northern hemisphere, debuting for Penrith Panthers in 2018 before joining Canberra Raiders, featuring heavily for both sides New South Wales Cup sides.
