Bradford Bulls have signed a former Super League man to offer some depth among their outside backs amid the club’s ongoing injury crisis.
Over a dozen senior players are out injured with the latest injury update from head coach Kurt Haggerty confirming that centre Esan Marsters had suffered a season-ending injury after snapping his Achilles against Wakefield Trinity.
The Bulls also lost Joe Mellor in that game to a long-term knee issue leaving Haggerty with just 15 fit players at training on Tuesday, highlighting the huge issues the club are facing.
Bradford have since been able to name a 19-man squad for Saturday’s game against Hull KR and it’s now been bolstered to 20 with the Bulls announcing the signing of former Super League man Greg Eden, who was most recently playing in the Championship.
Eden has not played at Super League level since 2023 with his past two and a half seasons spent in the Championship at Halifax, Featherstone, Hunslet and most recently North Wales Crusaders.
With the Crusaders seeing their ownership pull funding, the club are in crisis and recently forfeited an 1895 Cup game against Midlands meaning they’ve become the latest side from whom players will be picked up.
Bradford Bulls sign Greg Eden
Bradford have now picked up Eden, announcing the deal on social media, with the 35-year-old signing an initial month-long contract.
Starting his career with Castleford Tigers in 2011, Eden played at the top level for over a decade in a career that took him down under to play for current NRL champions Brisbane Broncos.
It was at Castleford Tigers where he was most profilic though, rejoining the club ahead of the 2017 season and going on to score 111 tries in 119 games. More recently, he has scored 10 in 10 for North Wales, including a hat-trick against a London side that Bradford Bulls had beaten in the early stages of the Challenge Cup.
