Bradford Bulls have sent prop forward Eribe Doro for a scan with the former Hull KR man having missed training as a result of a calf complaint.
Doro, who returned to the Bulls at the start of the 2026 season, has been one of their many success stories but ahead of Thursday’s game against Wakefield Trinity, the club are sweating on his fitness.
Head coach Kurt Haggerty is hopeful that the prop forward is fine but he confirmed that the 25-year-old was held back from training and has been sent for a precautionary scan.
Haggerty revealed: “We are a little bit touch and go with Eribe Doro with his calf, which I’ll know more tomorrow. Apart from Eribe, I think we should be okay.
“He’s missed a session today but it was up to Eribe then he would have trained, but the provisional medical staff have just held him back and we sent him for a scan, so I’ll probably know him back in the next four or five hours.”
Bradford Bulls set for returns for Leeds Rhinos clash
Losing Doro would be a big blow against a Wakefield team who are very strong in the forward pack, however, there was a positive boost in that both Dan Russell and Zac Fulton came through fine despite playing with knocks against Huddersfield Giants.
Haggerty explained it’s unlikely that anyone returns for Thursday’s game but there could be a couple back for the West Yorkshire derby against Leeds Rhinos next week at Headingley.
“We may have a couple back for Leeds, potentially, but yeah, there won’t be much change this week”
On who that could be, he said: “Potentially Phoenix Steindwede, potentially Jamie Gill, and then maybe one or two other more. When you have so many, you can’t remember them all, but there’s a couple.”
Two men who have also started to run again after missing long periods of the year are half-backs Rowan Milnes and Joe Keyes, with Haggerty noting: “They’ve both been having a trot round the pitch, so they are back on their feet, they are running, and it’s the start of the process now to get back to hopefully being integrated into training at some point.”
Jayden Okunbor is another long-term absentee after a bulging disc issue sidelined him shortly after his return from a round one knee injury.
Offering an update, Haggerty said: “From the last meeting I had regarding Jayden Okunbor with our medical staff, he could potentially get the last couple of games of the season, potentially, if he keeps progressing the way he’s progressing.”
