Bradford Bulls back Guy Armitage has confirmed that he will not be playing his rugby league at the club in 2027, with the rugby union convert announcing that the West Yorkshire side have decided not to renew his contract.
Armitage, 34, is one of several players at Odsal who are out of contract and he’s now taken to social media to confirm that the club have informed him that he won’t receive a new deal.
It’s been a rollercoaster fortnight for Armitage who made his 100th career appearance in rugby league in the loss to Wakefield Trinity before then scoring his first try of the season on Sunday against Leeds Rhinos.
However, he’s now confirmed that between those two dates, he was informed that he would not be handed a new deal at the club with Armitage announcing the news in an honest and reflective video on Instagram.

Guy Armitage to leave Bradford Bulls
Posted on Sunday evening, just a few hours after the Bulls’ 42-12 loss to Leeds Rhinos, Armitage opened up on his ‘crazy week’.
“I’m reflecting on what has been, I’d say, a crazy week, but it probably sums up rugby league, and union, pretty well,” Armitage said in the video shared to Instagram.
“A week ago, I was celebrating my 100th career appearance in rugby league, and a couple of days later, I got the news that Bradford weren’t going to re-sign me.
“In the same breath, I also need to stay switched on because we’re playing Leeds in a derby. It’s just one of the many decisions that you need to make as you go through your career.”
Armitage would go on to score the opener in that derby against Leeds and he went on to explain how it highlighted the highs and lows of professional sport.
He said: “For any young players, you can get the highest of highs, and some lows delivered days apart, and then go back to some more highs.
“I had the choice to sulk about it all week, or remember that I circled this fixture in the calendar the moment it came out and remember that I get to play a game with an incredible atmosphere.
“I don’t know where I’m going to be next season, but I’m going to keep giving it my all.”
Armitage started his career in rugby union and would make the transition to rugby league in 2019, first joining London Broncos but he’s spent the bulk of his career in the 13-man code playing for Toulouse Olympique.
