After the first rugby league Ashes Test at Wembley between England and Australia, the disciplinary verdict has been returned.
Australia claimed the opener 26-6, as they were expected to do according to the bookmakers, with full-back Reece Walsh having an incredible debut as he made almost 250 metres and scored two tries.
Second-rower Angus Crichton also scored two with Daryl Clark scoring England’s sole try with Shaun Wane’s side proving relatively toothless throughout the game, especially in the second half.
It was a relatively uneventful game in terms of disciplinary talking points and that’s been found to be true with the international Match Review Panel releasing their verdict and confirming that no incidents requited any action.
A statement confirmed: “The international Match Review Panel set up for the ABK Beer Ashes Series has considered Saturday’s First Test at Wembley Stadium, and with no incidents requiring a disciplinary charge or further consideration, no international Operational Rules Tribunal will be required.”
No disciplinary action from first Ashes Test
The international Match Review Panel was made up of Paul Cullen from the RFL and Luke Patten from Australia, something that was agreed in advance of the series.
Both the English Rugby Football League and the Australian Rugby League Commision are working in tandem on the series and that’s seen refereeing duties split as well.
Super League official Liam Moore took charge of the first game with Jack Smith as his video referee, with Moore questioned heavily by the Australian media.
But it will be Australian referee Grant Atkins who takes charges of the second Test at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The match officials for the third Test, set to be held at Leeds’ Headingley Stadium, have yet to be confirmed but they will be decided based on performances in the opening two Tests.
Australia could have the series sealed up by then if they manage to win at Everton.

“Moore questioned heavily by the Australian media”.
There’s a turn up for the book.
Maybe because he missed the (possibly accidental) trip on Lewis or the two forward passes which led to Australia’s first try.
Or the pull back preventing a tackle on Walsh a matter of meters from the Australian line.
Or.
Or.
Yes, I could cite as many which went against Australia, but the referee made significantly fewer mistakes than either team so just accept everyone makes mistakes.
One thing I will not accept is a complaint about the length of time playing the ball. Almost certainly not what the Australian crowds are used to, but the Australian players themselves adapted pretty quickly to the tackle times in Europe and were as good as England in slowing down the ruck.
