Friday night marked the end of the Super League regular season meaning the play-offs, and the road to the Grand Final, are now confirmed.
Due to the fixture scheduling that saw both Hull teams play on Thursday, with KR securing the League Leaders Shield and FC losing to guarantee a seventh-placed finish, there wasn’t much left to decide on Friday night.
Pride was obviously at stake but the only possible change to the play-offs was who finished third or second with Leigh Leopards needing to lose to Huddersfield, and an injury-hit Leeds side needed to defeat a full-strength Wigan on the road.
Neither of those happened with Friday’s results going as expected, albeit with Castleford handing St Helens a scare as they scored three late tries to make it 26-24.
Saints will now carry that worrying form into the play-offs, with the Red Vee set to travel to Headingley in week one. Below are all the Super League play-off details you need.
What do the Super League play-offs look like?
The six-team play-offs start next Friday night, 26th September, with third-placed Leigh Leopards hosting sixth-placed Wakefield Trinity.
Leigh’s reward for finishing third is to host the lowest qualifier which is Daryl Powell’s Wakefield side. That game will take place at 8:00 pm on Sky Sports with BBC Three also broadcasting it, with that coverage starting from 7:30 pm.
A day later, play-off Super League rugby will return to Headingley as Leeds host St Helens with kick-off again at 8:00 pm and coverage coming from Sky Sports+.
The highest-ranked qualifier, so either Leigh, Leeds or Saints, will then travel to the Brick Community Stadium on Friday, October 3rd, to face Wigan with kick-off again 8:00 pm. That’s live on Sky Sports+.
Saturday 4th then sees League Leaders Shield winners Hull KR host the lowest-ranked qualifier, so one of Leeds, Saints or Wakefield, with kick-off at 5:30 pm. That’s on both BBC Two and Sky Sports+.
The winners of those Super League semi-finals will then meet at Old Trafford a week later on Saturday October 11th, with kick-off slated for 6:00 pm. Coverage will come from Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports+.
