Abbas Miski has high hopes of being back in the Wigan Warriors side in time to make an impact over the final few months of the season.
The winger underwent surgery earlier this month after struggling with a knee injury for much of the season so far. Miski has been in and out of the Warriors’ line up as a result, with Wigan doing all they can to give him the rest and recovery he needs.
As such, he has made just six appearances this season, but in a stat that underlines his importance to the Cherry and Whites, he has scored seven tries with at least one try coming every time he has taken to the field.
Peet admitted earlier in the season that the Lebanon international would need to have surgery, though, and the winger went under the knife a couple of weeks back with his last outing coming against Warrington Wolves at Magic Weekend.
Wigan Warriors winger gives injury update
He is now in recovery but the hope is he can be back in action in a couple of months.
“It’s going well,” Miski told Sky Sports on Friday night.
“Obviously, the first week is a little hard, just recovering from all the swelling and the surgery itself, but there are good signs, the surgery went well, and I’m working closely with the physio team, hopefully, get me back in time.”
Miski will have added competition when he eventually does return to action, with Christian Wade due to arrive from rugby union in the coming months. The winger is currently with Gloucester and the Premiership outfit are gunning for a spot in the play-offs ahead of the final round of action next week.
Wade is due to make the switch to Wigan once his time at Kingsholm comes to an end, but if Gloucester were to make the top four, his arrival looks set to be delayed by at least a week.
With Liam Marshall secure on one wing, it seems Miski could well find himself battling it out with Wade for a spot later in the season.
