Salford Red Devils announce seventh loan in two days as Leigh Leopards man joins club

Salford Red Devils have announced the signing of an out-of-favour Leigh Leopards man as they continue to bring in loans ahead of their game against Hull FC tomorrow.

The Red Devils already confirmed six loan signings yesterday. Riley Lumb and Ben Littlewood joined from Leeds Rhinos, Jake Davies and Ciaran Nolan arrived from St Helens and Harvey Makin and Taylor Kerr from Wigan Warriors.

Super League rules state that clubs cannot have more than six loan players in a matchday squad, however the RFL have granted Salford dispensation in order to fulfil the fixture.

A 21-man squad has yet to be announced by Paul Rowley, but having already got Tiaki Chan, Toby Warren and Tom Whitehead at the club on season-long loans, Salford could potentially field nine loan players at the MKM Stadium on Sunday.

The Red Devils are left with just nine fit and available players of their own, after Chris Hankinson, Jack Ormondroyd, Ryan Brierley and Chris Hill all departed the club in order for Salford to pay off remaining debts.

Paul Rowley has brought in Brad Dwyer for the game against Hull FC, as he looks to add some much-needed experience to his young side.

Dwyer joined Leigh from the Black and Whites in 2024, but has found game time hard to come by this season, with Adrian Lam opting to select the likes of Ben McNamara and Matt Davis as the replacement nine.

His last appearance came at the start of May, and has spent time in the Leopards’ reserves this season. However, he will look to utilise his speed from dummy half and hope to provide an attacking threat from the base of the ruck.

He is by far the most experienced loanee Salford have, as he approaches 250 Super League matches. The former Leeds and Warrington man needs just four appearances to reach a quarter of a century.
