Rugby league legend Sean Long has made a cross-code move to Orrell RUFC, the club has confirmed today.
In a statement, Orrell listed the achievements of half-back Long who won four Super League trophies, five Challenge Cups and two World Club Championships in his time as a star player for St Helens.
He also picked up three Lance Todd trophies and a Man of Steel award too.
Since retirement, Long has gone into coaching and has been on the backroom staff at St Helens for a number of years under Keiron Cunningham and now with Justin Holbrook at the helm.
The club also said in their statement: “Sean’s rugby knowledge will be greatly appreciated as we develop our young and upcoming senior squad players,”
“Welcome Sean and good luck for season, great to have you with us! #teamorrell”
