Rugby League fans unanimous after Warrington Wolves hammered by Wigan Warriors

Warrington Wolves were soundly beaten by Wigan Warriors in Las Vegas leading rugby league fans to say the same thing.

A flurry of late tries once Wigan had taken their foot of Wire’s throat ensured that the scoreline wasn’t a total embarrassment for Warrington who lost 48-24 in the first ever Super League game held stateside.

However, the first hour showed just how dominant Wigan are with numerous players putting in near flawless performances and leaving Sam Burgess’ side chasing shadows.

Incredibly, the game saw 12 different try scorers with all 12 tries converted, the first of those coming through Tyler Dupree – nephew of a Super Bowl winner and doing it on the stage where the Super Bowl was held last year.

That and Wigan’s next two tries were described by Sam Burgess as 50/50 moments with Dupree benefiting when Josh Thewlis couldn’t claim a catch under pressure from Liam Marshall, Abbas Miski then scoring milimetres away from the corner, and Bevan French’s score adjudged to have come backwards off Sam Walters.

On another day, all would go Warrington’s way but this was Wigan’s day and they proved that with Harry Smith scoring before half-time before they then turned the screw tighter in the second-half.

Whilst Warrington Wolves will be gutted that they fell foul of a dominant Wigan side, the event delivered the entertainment that it promised but that wasn’t enough to take some fans eyes of Warrington’s performance.

Rugby League fans unanimous after Warrington Wolves hammered by Wigan Warriors

In response to Serious About Rugby League’s social media post confirming the scoreline several fans gave their opinion on Warrington Wolves with the team whose year it always is catching some flack.

Here are some of those responses with the initial post embedded at the bottom of the article.

Callum Howells: “Surely that Warrington performance brings the sport into disrepute, some of the defence would have been better from 10 year olds.”

Alex Thornbury: ” If Warrington had actually showed up in the first half it might’ve been a decent game. Big if though.”

Kevin Lyon: “Only reason warrington got 24 was because wigan went home early cos the job was done. If they hadn’t that would have been 60 plus points win by the end. Should have played the world club game instead or a saints wigan derby.”

Tom Winstanley: “Warrington just didn’t play like they can tho Wigan at the moment are best team in UK.”

John Peel: “Couldn’t lace Wigans boots I was there (Saints fan)”

Mike Paul Rathbone: “We were very poor last night and the whole week seemed more about promo than the actual game. Sam needs to pick the boys up now and go again but will be a long season me thinks.”

Lyn Pagett: “Wires normal response on the big stage… Can’t handle it.”

Robert Bland: “Wire were dreadful.”
