Salford Red Devils have been a key talking point since the start of the year and talk of players leaving including Marc Sneyd have rolled on for months. Now, finally, we have the answer regarding Sneyd – and it’s a switch to Warrington Wolves.
Paul Rowley’s men have been through it all this year to date, with the financial saga well documented. Now Salford’s cost base, at least, will be a fair bit lower after the exit of Marc Sneyd.
All Out Rugby League have reported this afternoon that Warrington have snapped up Sneyd, agreeing a deal with Salford over the exit of the halfback. It’s said that Sneyd will make the move once personal terms have been confirmed, with Warrington now having confirmed the deal.
Warrington are willing to pay a transfer fee for Sneyd, cited as the main reason for Salford’s willingness to do business after wanting to keep hold of key players despite their financial troubles.
This report has led to reaction aplenty on our Serious About Rugby League Facebook page and here is the best of it below. The majority of fans believe it’s a good move for Warrington and spells more trouble for Salford.
Rugby League fans on Marc Sneyd to Warrington Wolves
Catherine Cardiff: Can’t blame the lad, but would love him to stay.
Callum Smith: Good for player and Wire. It’s criminal what’s happening at Salford you feel for their fans, must be horrible to be helpless watching the club sink. But players now should all be allowed to find clubs if they can.
Pete Wilko: Thanks for your commitment to the Salford cause, Marc. All the best can’t blame you.
Andrew Begg: Good move for Warrington and Salford are in big trouble.
Robert John: Thanks for wearing the shirt again and the commitment. Can’t blame you. Go and earn some.
Robert: We’re (Salford) in more than trouble.
Andy Roberts: As much as I hate to see him go, if it means we survive, so be it.

Beginning of the end for Salford RL. their players will see this as a reason to leave. Obviously Salford have not done due diligence on this investor(s) Even if the deal does eventually go through these investors will never be trusted. It would actually be something of a surprise if this deal does go through now. It begs the question why do these people get involved if they have no real intent in completing the deal.

How can Warrington possibly be underthe Salary Cap to bring in a player of his calibre.

Since Salfords ratings at the end of last season, l have had my concerns if they would improve their rattings his season. We survived any players leaving despite pressure from the vultures ( so called other clubs ) feeling sorry us. Every televised game we were ridiculed by the pundits which did not help. As a fan since the 1950,s l have eventually had to concede that we are now being led merry dance by the club, have we genuinely been taken over? When you have lost your first four games the way that we have despite the fact we were thrown under the bus with restrictions you do not sell your best player. Only two days ago Paul Rowley said there was light at the end of the tunnel. Sorry Paul but as brilliant as you have been l can confirm with you that the only light we will see is when the mass exodus of the players open the door on their way out. Between you all you have killed our once great club. Do everyone a favour and resign for you have made Saldord the laughing stock of rugby league.

Was thinking the same my self.. can’t blame the lad but I honestly think this is a bad signing for Warrington as he’s to much like Williams but not as fast.. if I was stef who’s been at the club for over 10 years I’d be sick as a parrot not have been given a chance.. for me you can tell what sort of club and team Warrington are as you only have to look how the coach was partying in Vargas with the clown from Leigh.. you wouldn’t get that from Wigan coach mr peet or rads and danson.

Heading for relegation. It’s not the players who are at fault. It’s the EFL. they allowed Bradford to go down a road to despair and now it’s Solly’s turn. Championship beckons.
Sneeed thanks for the boot mate

I think that the rugby league need a major meeting of all club chairmen where they look at the IMG Gradings so that every club play at the same level
