Rugby league fans choose favourite Super League memories including special Rob Burrow moment

Super League

Super League passed the 5,000 game mark in Round Six but what moment is cherished by fans the most? They’ve now given their verdict.

Just before the 29th birthday of Super League, game 5,000 came on Friday night at the Halliwell Jones Stadium as Warrington Wolves hosted Leeds Rhinos in a very tight affair that saw Sam Burgess’ side take home the spoils.

The 16-14 win wasn’t without controversy though as Keenan Palasia’s late sin bin saw the visitors down to twelve for the final five minutes, during which time they conceded the game-winner when Jake Thewlis dived in at the corner.

Game number 5,002 was another tight one and one that will likely go down as a classic despite some of the poor quality on show due to the high winds. St Helens earned their first Super League victory in Perpignan since 2018 thanks to two Jonny Lomax drop goals with the Saints skipper coming up clutch late on.

But what of the first 5,000 games in Super League? We asked fans for their favourite memories and got a wide array of answers with individual games and moments picked out, with a number only enhanced thanks to some of the sport’s most iconic commentary lines of all time.
