Eight Super League players charged

Danny McGuire future

The RFL Match Review Panel have charged eight players following the latest round of Betfred Super League fixtures.

Leeds stand-off Danny McGuire has been charged with Grade C using foul and abusive language towards a match official during Friday night’s match against Castleford.

The Rhinos captain, who has his early guilty plea (EGP) available, was sent to the sin-bin by referee Robert Hicks for the incident after he disagreed with a decision that led to a Tigers try.

McGuire’s team-mate Jamie Jones-Buchanan has also been given a Grade A charge of striking with the shoulder and with no EGP available, he is at risk of missing Thursday’s match against St Helens.

Saints themselves will be sweating over the availability of star centre Mark Percival (no EGP) who has been given a Grade C charge for other contrary behaviour during their comeback win against Salford.

Catalans full-back Tony Gigot has also been given a Grade C charge (EGP available) for disputing a decision using aggressive body language in the Dragons defeat to Warrington on Saturday.

Widnes playmaker Rangi Chase (no EGP) is at risk of suspension after he was charged with Grade B striking with the shoulder during Thursday’s victory against Leigh.

Elsewhere, Wigan utility Willie Isa (dangerous contact), Wakefield forward Chris Annakin (kicking out) and Hull FC youngster Brad Fash (dangerous contact) were charged with Grade A offences – all with EGP’s available.
