Rugby league agent believes five big players are set to leave Leeds Rhinos as Rohan Smith plans mammoth rebuild and signings

Leeds Rhinos are in something of a transition at present.

After Richard Agar left the club earlier this year, former Bradford Bulls boss Rohan Smith has been tasked with turning things around at Headingley.

So far, the Rhinos have gone from the lowest scoring side in the competition to the highest under Smith, with a considerable improvement obvious.

However, like any new coach, he will want to put his own stamp on the Leeds squad that he has inherited with leading rugby league agent Craig Harrison of Show Me The Money UK believing that Smith will attempt to get rid of five and bring in the same amount.

“People have got to free money up on the cap urgently,” Harrison told The Full Eighty Minutes podcast.

“Rohan has got to go in and it’s not his side, it’s Richard Agar’s side, built on Dave Furner’s side which was built on Brian McDermott’s side.

“There is nothing in there that smells of Rohan – Rohan likes people to run the ball at a fast tempo and wants to play open rugby. How does Rohan make his name in this country if the players are not his choice?

“I bet there will be more players at Leeds I have a feeling there is going to be about five. I reckon he’s gone ‘he can go and he can go.'”

So far, Alex Mellor, Jack Walker and Jack Broadbent have departed Headingley for Castleford Tigers, Hull FC and Featherstone Rovers respectively, and Harrison revealed just how difficult it can be for a new coach.

“It must be so hard, it’s not your choice. Let’s see where Rohan spends that money. He has already brought that prop in from France and he will spend elsewhere.”

That prop from France is Justin Sangare who has lit up Super League this season with some huge runs and big hits in defence for Toulouse Olympique.
