Rugby league agent backs Castleford Tigers halfback Jake Trueman for England

Jake Trueman has been at Castleford Tigers since the 2017 Super League season.

He made the move from Bradford Bulls as a teenager and scored a hat-trick on his debut away at Wigan Warriors

However, a serious back injury and a lack of form has sometimes stopped him from kicking on and becoming the superstar that he was touted as a couple of years ago.

That hasn’t stopped rugby league agent, Craig Harrison – of Show Me The Money UK – from backing him for an England spot at this year’s World Cup.

“I’ve got to go with a kid who has got a short kicking game, can kick long and we don’t see enough of it,” Harrison said on The Full Eighty Minutes podcast.

“I think he is made for the big stage – we haven’t seen it yet, but with the right people around him he will star.

“And he can defend, I need two halves who can defend and I need two halves who are not going to get spotted by the top four clubs – he’s got to be physical enough to defend and it is the maverick that is Jake Trueman.

“We are ready for him and Cas are struggling, Truey at times has struggled but his stats this year are ridiculous in assists.”

It remains to be seen whether Trueman will be given the nod by Shaun Wane, but he is certainly in contention.
