Rugby codes to do battle in aid of Rugby for Heroes and Hull4Heroes

Mike Tindall faces off against rugby league legend Keith Senior as the battle of the codes hybrid match returns to Kingsholm

England Rugby World Cup winner and Gloucester legend Mike Tindall will be pulling on his boots on Saturday 30th March as he leads a rugby union side full of internationals and ex-Gloucester players against a formidable rugby league opposition captained by ex-Great Britain legend Keith Senior. The Battle of the Codes: Union v League, sponsored by Vanarama, promises to be an epic hybrid clash with 35 minutes of rugby league and 35 minutes of rugby union being played at Kingsholm to see if it’ll be league or union crowned rugby’s ultimate champions.

The fixture is in aid of Rugby for Heroes and Hull4Heroes. Both charities support service personnel transitioning from military to civilian life and the event aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by our service personnel and the role that the rugby community can play in supporting them.

Speaking of the match, Keith Senior said: “There’ll be no holding back once we get on the pitch on the 30th March to take on the union side. Both teams have plenty of big names turning out and I’m sure it’ll be a great afternoon of rugby in support of a brilliant cause.”

Mike Tindall added: “Playing such a match in a city as passionate about rugby as Gloucester is fantastic and uniting both rugby codes in support of our servicemen and women is testament to the power of our sport.”

Matchday tickets are £10 for adults, £5 for children.
