Rovers announce new CEO

Hull KR have confirmed Paul Lakin will be returning to the club to take up the role of CEO.

Lakin was previously CEO between 2004 and 2008, and has also been at football clubs Stoke City and Hull City.

Current CEO Mike Smith will now head the Community team.

Outgoing Chairman Neill Hudgell said of Lakin: “Some of you may remember Paul from his time at the club at the start of our Super League journey.

“Since his departure in 2008 he has worked in football across the Premier League and Championship and will bring a wealth of knowledge and business acumen to the club.

“He has great knowledge of our City, our club, our fanbase and the wider sport in general – all of which will prove invaluable as he leads the club forward into 2021, a year that is widely recognised across our sport to have choppy waters ahead.”

Hudgell announced in August that he would be stepping away from the club from 1st December, and is overseeing the search for new investment at the club.

In an open letter to supporters, he added: “Plans for 2021 and beyond, across the club, will continue to progress giving supporters clarity and comfort about the future.

“It’s important to me that we repay the faith you have in us by being clear on the future direction and ambitions of the club before we announce plans for 2021 memberships.

“Your support throughout 2020 has been nothing short of sensational, 97% of our members are backing us no matter what. You continue to inspire me.”
