Rovers 3/1 to get million pound game revenge against Salford

Super League Golden Point

Super League sponsors Betfred make Salford clear 1/4 favourites to beat Hull KR in Friday nights live Challenge Cup tie .

It’s easy to have a pop at Sky , I’m guilty as charged , but we have to give them credit for backing up the BBC coverage of our cup competition to give us a total of 4 live games over the weekend .

There should be some dramatic moments in this one as the million pound game will still be fresh in the memory for both clubs , being just 7 months ago .

The Red Devils are the surprise packets in Super League as they sit 3rd in the table after 13 games , Rovers have only lost once this season and that was with a weakened side for their trip to Toulouse . Obviously there’s a big gulf in class between the Championship and Super League and this is born out by the 12 point start Rovers get on the handicap .

The Red Devils have now won 8 of their last 9 games but struggled against a severely depleted Wigan last Friday and whilst they should win this the value could be in the visitors getting a 12 point start on the handicap . Alternatively it’s 2/1 for a home win by 1-12 points .

As for a winning margin I think it could be around a 6-10 point win for the Red Devils . Rovers will have a point to prove after getting relegated and whilst a win may just be a step too far they could certainly keep the scoreline respectable . Salford struggled at home in the last round against Toronto , but got home by 7 points and I see a similar scenario here .

Greg Johnson heads the 1st try lists at 8/1 but Evalds looks the value at 10/1 .David Hodgson looks big at 18/1 for the visitors.

Gareth O’Brien is an obvious 6/1 favourite for the man of the match given what happened last October but I’d prefer the returning Junior Sau at 14/1 , it’s hard to see past 12/1 Jamie Ellis if the Robins are to pull off a shock , Lunt could be an alternative at 16/1 but it’s Ellis and Sau for me .

2 other games on Friday with prices , Dewsbury get a 34 point start for the visit of Wakefield . The Rams have had a nightmare start to the season with only 1 win from 12 games and it’s only Bradford’s points deduction which keeps them off the bottom of the table . If Trinity are in the mood they should win this by a lot more than 6 scores , the only worry is that it’s a long season and the visitors could take their foot off the gas with the game won . Chris Chester sys though that they’re treating their opponents with respect so you have to think they can win this by more than the 34 point handicap .

Rams fans looking for a shock can get up to 35/1 for a home win if you shop around , but if you must it may be better taking slightly reduced odds to qualify in case it went to golden point .

Finally in form Cup holders Hull concede a 16 point start on the handicap for their home tie against Catalans Dragons , the French side are in no kind of form and only points difference keeps them out of the bottom 4 , they did however win the league game at the KCOM and whilst 2nd placed Hull should win this at odds of around 1/6  I think the Dragons can keep it within 3 scores . If you fancy the French side to win in Hull again you can get tasty odds of around 9/2 but this is not for me as I think Hull can win this by around 11-15 points and take themselves to within 2 wins of an immediate return to Wembley .

Castleford host Saints on council tele on Saturday , as always please gamble responsibly .
