Rohan Smith’s message to Leeds Rhinos fans after worrying defeats

Leeds Rhinos

Leeds Rhinos fans aren’t the happiest bunch at present after back to back defeats have them outside the play-off spots and having lost more games than they have won in 2023.

However, after their latest defeat to Salford Red Devils, Rohan Smith wasn’t dismayed by the performance saying:

“Team wise we played well together. Defensively, against a team who throw a lot at you, we defended really well.

“We did concede 12 when they were down to 12 but aside from that we defended well and it was a good quality game all round.”

He also said there is a good feeling in the camp despite reports of an altercation between Harry Newman and Tom Holroyd.

“There is good energy, we have had a good week of training and going to Wigan and giving our best against them.”

This week Leeds take on Wigan Warriors in a repeat of last year’s semi-final. Smith said on the Warriors:

“They have been one of the standout teams and have had a quality start to the season. They have a good coach and a good roster and will want to bounce back after that result they came home strong in that game.

“It is an important game in this season.”

When asked if he had a message for Leeds’ anxious supporters, he said:

“We know we need to improve and need to play better for longer in most games but we have been in all the games which is a good starting point but not where we want to be.

“The majority of our games could have gone either way. We’re not far away from result but we are a way away from playing the level we think we can.”

And when asked if there was any panic, Smith said: “Yeah certainly no panic.”
