Rohan Smith confirms reports of heated tunnel altercation between Leeds stars

Leeds Rhinos have let themselves down in the last two games.

After claiming back to back wins against Huddersfield Giants and Hull FC, Leeds have suffered consecutive defeats and have now lost more games than they have won in 2023.

The Rhinos are currently outside the play-off places after those defeats but it is the manner of defeats that seems to be worrying fans.

Leeds were 16-0 down at Leigh Leopards very quickly before falling 12-0 down to Salford Red Devils in the first half.

Meanwhile the Rhinos made plenty of errors and gave away too many penalties in a difficult night for the Rhinos. In fact you could label that as frustrating.

This frustration seemingly boiled over after the game with reports that Harry Newman and Tom Holroyd had to be separated after a heated exchange.

Rohan Smith has now confirmed that the altercation did take place but somewhat played it down.

He said: “These things happen from time to time, it is not something we condone or want to happen but players get frustrated and disappointed and they’re both very passionate guys that want to do well and want the teams to do well.

“They had a bit of a disagreement and that was left there and then and everyone has moved on.

“Those guys have known each other and been mates for a long period of time. It was one of those things that can happen in sport.”
