Rohan Smith reveals Leeds Rhinos star 50/50 to play in Saturday’s Grand Final

Rohan Smith has revealed that a Leeds Rhinos star is 50/50 to play in tomorrow’s Super League Grand Final.

Leeds go up against St Helens in one of the most anticipated Grand Final clashes in recent years.

But, the Rhinos may have to do it without one of their stars, despite him being named in the 21-man squad.

That star is Ash Handley who was named just over a fortnight after injuring his foot in a clash against the Castleford Tigers.

That seemingly ended his 2022 season, but his inclusion in the squad earlier on today has given Rhinos fans hope that he will return to the wing spot for the showpiece event.

Now, however, Rohan Smith has revealed that he is ’50/50’ to make the game with a late fitness check expected.

“He (Handley) is probably 50/50 at this stage,” said Smith.

“He’s got through a bunch of training. He was training in rehab mode last week and made some decent progress.

“[But] he hasn’t done a real heavy training session yet.”

Meanwhile, Saints head coach Kristian Woolf has revealed that Will Hopoate has ‘a good chance’ of playing at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Rhyse Martin will return for the Rhinos after being suspended for two games, whilst Morgan Knowles will play after being cleared by the Operational Rules Tribunal.

Knowles’ appeal was successful last night after initially being banned for two games.
