Rohan Smith reveals Leeds could be boosted by surprise returnee

Leeds Rhinos lost David Fusitu’a early against Hull KR in a big blow in that defeat.

The Rhinos were then without any of their first choice back three with Richie Myler on paternity leave and Ash Handley injured.

Myler will be back this week and in a surprise twist, after Rohan Smith said recently that it could be a little longer for Handley, the winger could be back for Sunday’s game.

Smith said: “Ash is back in training but not sure if he’ll play yet.”

When asked if he has a chance of playing, Smith said:

“Maybe. He hasn’t done a full session yet.”

Smith also gave an update on Fusitu’a:

“David Fusitu’a had a decent ankle injury which has turned out to be a six to eight week type injury.

“He is seeing a specialist this afternoon so we will know the way forward a bit more there but other than that we have come through quite well from the weekend except for some bumps and bruises.”

He also gave an update on Nene MacDonald after he missed last week’s defeat to Hull KR with a calf strain.

Smith said of the centre who can also play on the wing:

“We have to see if Nene is alright, he had a calf injury last week. We have Tindall and Luis Roberts and they are chomping at the bit to get back.

“He is doing some rehab at the moment.”
