Rohan Smith reveals if there will be any further departures from Leeds Rhinos

This week Leeds Rhinos have moved Jack Walker on to Hull FC on loan.

The move was believed to be designed to open up salary cap space to enable Leeds to bring in one or two players to bolster their pack.

Although no new players will come in this week, Leeds are still expected to bring someone in and Rohan Smith today revealed that the club is constantly on the look out.

However, there has been talk that Leeds could offload other players to free up further cap space to enable them to bring in a high profile target – with some fans hoping a move for Luke Thompson could be possible – or multiple forwards.

Smith revealed that there’s no immediate plans to do so but the club is open to allowing players to leave: “If there’s opportunity for players to secure their future elsewhere and that benefits us as far as roster management, all things will be considered.

“We’re light on numbers at the moment so it’s not the intention to lose anyone short term but it’s a case by case situation.”

One of the players rumoured to be leaving was Liam Sutcliffe however, that seems unlikely with Smith showering the centre in praise after he scored in the win over Hull at the weekend: “Sutty played a strong game against Hull. He’s been going about his work well and took his chance well.”
