Rohan Smith reveals huge blow for Leeds Rhinos

Leeds Rhinos head coach Rohan Smith

Ahead of a big game as part of Rivals Round, Rohan Smith has given an injury update on his Leeds Rhinos squad as they prepare to take on Huddersfield Giants.

The Rhinos will be without star winger David Fusitu’a for the next two months or so as Rohan Smith said he was set to see a specialist.

He said today:

“David Fusitu’a had a decent ankle injury which has turned out to be a six to eight week type injury.

“He is seeing a specialist this afternoon so we will know the way forward a bit more there but other than that we have come through quite well from the weekend except for some bumps and bruises.”

He also gave an update on Nene MacDonald after he missed last week’s defeat to Hull KR with a calf strain.

Smith said of the centre who can also play on the wing:

“We have to see if Nene is alright, he had a calf injury last week. We have Tindall and Luis Roberts and they are chomping at the bit to get back.

“He is doing some rehab at the moment.”

This fixture ended in a draw last season, a rare draw of course in the days of Golden Point.

It often is a close game as we saw last season on a different occasion when a late Blake Austin try gave Leeds a dramatic win over the Giants in Round 25.
