Rohan Smith reflects on his first day as Leeds Rhinos boss as he reveals ’12 hour talk’ with coaching staff

Rohan Smith took charge of his first Leeds Rhinos session today at Kirkstall Road after arriving in the UK last week.

Ready to continue the good work done by interim coach Jamies Jones-Buchanan and assistant Sean Long, Smith has revealed some long talks with the coaching staff in order to get fully briefed on the task ahead.

“We have spent time with the coaching staff pretty much none stop for ten, 12 hours and talking about the path forward and the preparation for Salford,” Smith told Rhinos TV.

“It’s a good start and I’ve pretty much got all the players’ names covered.

“There are familiar faces from TV and some guys I’ve coached at various places.”

Smith also revealed that there were faces training who have been out of the first-team recently due to injuries.

“It’s good to have the numbers there and have the squad as we need that to compete and it’s good to see some other people back out there.

“It’s good timing off the back of a challenging period with the Easter period and the changing of seats here.”
