Rohan Smith provides inside details of Leeming situation including replacement search

Rohan Smith has provided full clarity on the details around Kruise Leeming’s requested departure from the Leeds Rhinos.

He started with looking at it from a recruitment point of view saying the Rhinos aren’t looking to replace Leeming:

“At this point we’re not looking to replace, he hasn’t actually left yet.

“We are in a good position there with Jarrod O’Connor and Corey Johnson is back to full health and he did well for Bradford.

“He is close to getting some game time but I see Jarrod as being able to play 80 minutes.

“I am focused on guys who are here. We are always looking to strengthen our side.

“There is generally some movement in the middle of the season so we will see.”

Smith was asked about the recent report from Leeds Live that Leeming was headed to Gold Coast Titans. When asked if he had heard if the move had happened, Smith said: “As far as I am aware, no.”

He also confirmed that Leeming is now training separately: “We’ve given him some training options and ideas to do elsewhere.”

Smith was also asked if he had some contact with Leeming. On this he said: “I have had some contact. I can only focus on the players who are in the building.”
