Rohan Smith likens win over Catalans Dragons to one of Super League’s greatest ever teams

Rohan Smith’s Leeds Rhinos side showed their DNA in the second half against Catalans Dragons today.

The Rhinos attacked with venom and pace in the second half scoring five tries against the previously unbeaten Catalans Dragons.

They were exceptional and played off the cuff rugby which is when they are at their best and this was seen in the first half with Leeds using their signature short kick-offs as well as a crossfield kick inside their own half early in the tackle count.

Speaking after the game, Rohan Smith said his side fed off the the crowd and likened his team’s attack to the one his Uncle Tony Smith instilled at the Rhinos back when he was in the Headingley hotseat and the Rhinos were playing some amazing rugby league that led them to two Super League titles.

In 2005, Leeds also had the best ever attack in Super League history scoring 1152 points in 28 games

Smith said of his side’s display today: “It was buzzing today. That was the most impact I have felt in my time here.

“They were riding it hard because we were playing well. They love to see the short kick off and the cross field kick and the 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 style, that style of people expressing themselves and playing a bit.

“They like to see that. They were probably agitated a bit with some other things going on. It was on fire.”
