Last night Leeds Rhinos endured a horror start to the Super League season as they lost 42-10 to the Warrington Wolves.
However, Rohan Smith, despite the defeat, had praise for his new signings.
The likes of Luis Roberts, Derrell Olpherts, Sam Lisone and Justin Sangare all made their debuts last night in the defeat as Olpherts and Sangare scored.
Smith said of the debutants on the Rhinos’ YouTube channel: “I thought Olpherts was overall very good, classy finish, carried the ball well in yardage, good energy and he looked like he loved wearing that jersey.
“I thought Luis Roberts did a pretty good job as a kid. We’re missing some strike and seasoned players there but that kid has done tremendous job during the pre-season and I’ve got a lot of belief in that kid that he’s going to grow with our team.
“Sam will be better for the hit out, I thought his second shift was pretty good, he got a taste for the English game and big Justin did alright. He played a good shift and he’s not used to playing big minutes.
“It wasn’t an individual thing today, it was the collective efforts of each other. If we won a tackle then we couldn’t get the next one going, we couldn’t get any flow to our defence or our attack.”
