Rohan Smith gives important injury update on Mikolaj Oledzki as Leeds Rhinos look to semi-finals

Last night will be remembered by Leeds fans as one of their side’s finest performances in play-off history.

In a hostile environment missing key players, the Rhinos still found a way to get over the line in France producing a smart performance that played to their strengths and caught Catalans out.

The Rhinos left France with a 20-10 victory thanks to a Liam Sutcliffe hat-trick and a flawless night with the boot from Zak Hardaker. They can now look forward to a semi-final clash with either Wigan or St Helens depending on today’s result between Huddersfield and Salford.

It could however have been a costly night for the Rhinos in France with a potential injury to one of Leeds’ best players.

The man on question is of course England international and Dream Team prop Mikolaj Oledzki who was terrific again last night for the Rhinos after an outstanding season.

However, Oledzki went off in the second half with a shoulder injury and was later spotted with his arm in his shirt which acted as a makeshift sling.

After the game, Leeds coach Rohan Smith revealed they were hopeful it’s not too serious: “He’s got a bit of a shoulder injury there. Hopefully it’s one of those stinger ones where you get a little bit of pain for a short while that can sometimes go away. We’re hoping it’s just that.”

Leeds also lost Morgan Gannon who took a heavy hit from Sam Kasiano and subsequently failed his HIA test which means he’ll miss next week’s semifinal.

On Gannon, Smith said: “He’s okay, he’s a brave young man. He got himself in the way of a strong ball carrier in Sam Kasiano.”
