Rohan Smith gives his verdict on controversial red card

Leeds Rhinos

At halftime last night I am sure most experts were ready to analyse another lacklustre Leeds Rhinos display where the red card to Zane Tetevano was crucial to the Rhinos unravelling.

In the end it galvanised the Rhinos rather than dragging them to another defeat as they won 40-18 but it was still a bold decision and after the game Rohan Smith had his say on it:

“I don’t have time to spend it analysing decisions. We had already lost one edge back rower with Bentley going off and then another one,” Smith said on the Rhinos YouTube channel.

“From the replays I saw it is difficult to be conclusive on the point of contact and I’m not overly sure how late it was. Everyone is looking at it through a different lens.”

It is now likely Tetevano will miss the cup tie next week against the same opposition through suspension.

Smith would also reveal that the decision didn’t affect his confidence in his team:

“I probably didn’t think about the scoreline too much.

“When the referee made that big call, I thought we were still in the game. It was going to take lots of effort, some good execution and maybe some things to go our way but the things that went our way were on the back of good connected defence.”
