Leeds Rhinos went down 42-12 to St Helens tonight in a feisty affair at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
The West Yorkshire side were actually going toe to toe with the reigning champions for most of the game before Saints stepped up another gear to wipe the floor with the Rhinos.
Leeds were, however, decimated by the end of the game as Bodene Thompson and James Bentley were given yellow cards for a trip and kicking the ball away respectively whilst Zane Tetevano was shown a red for a horror tackle on Konrad Hurrell.
For Leeds head coach Rohan Smith, he wanted his side to show more composure which he felt would have made the game a lot closer.
“I liked the bulk of the game, but I didn’t like how it finished, but we attacked that game in the first-half,” Smith said on Sky Sports after the game.
“There were a few very big moments in the game where we lost our composure and didn’t execute and it may have had the game a bit closer.”
When asked by Sky Sports pundit Jenna Brooks about Tetevano’s and Bentley’s incidents, Smith confessed he didn’t see either.
“I haven’t seen the replays so I will wait to see how it happened. I actually didn’t see what happened with James either.”
