Robinson urges side to keep focus in case of playoff call

Huddersfield Giants interim Head Coach Luke Robinson has urged his side to keep their focus ahead of a potential playoff call.

The Giants finished the 2020 Super League season in seventh place, meaning they will be on standby for the playoffs.

If a team has to pull out because of a COVID outbreak, the Giants will take their place.

However, Robinson did say his team needed to get out of the losing habit when it came to close matches.

He said:  “Unfortunately, we got in the arm wrestle and fell out again. This is what happens when you have a couple of close losses.

“Winning and losing becomes a habit, and we have fallen into it too many times this season.

“We have gone against the best side and covered ourselves well again. The tries we conceded were really poor.

“I understand we have a slim chance of playing, but you never know what will happen from day to day and minute to minute. We need to prepare like we do for every game.

“We will carry on as normal until we get the call on Tuesday or Wednesday to tell us otherwise.

“We have the nucleus of a really good squad, we just need to fine tune a couple of areas and we will be challenging in the big games next year.”
