“Robbed again” – Leigh Leopards fans furious after defeat

As you would expect, after their defeat to Leeds Rhinos last night, Leigh Leopards fans are very disappointed.

They led 16-0 at halftime and seemed to have Leeds in the palm of their hand but totally capitulated in the second half as Leeds turned on the style and the Leigh Leopards were on the wrong end of some unlucky calls.

After the game fans were divided by what they had seen. Commenting on the club’s social media post, one fan said: “Keep your heads up lads.”

Another called on Leigh Leopards owner Derek Beaumont to boycott the competition as they blamed the officials: “Derek Beaumont just refuse to play because that officiating was disgusting. It’s every week.”

Beaumont himself had his say on what he feels is wrong with the sport after the game but some of his fans wanted to know what was wrong with their performance in the second half: “Can someone please tell me what the f*ck that second half was.”

One fan who quoted the post, both blamed the performance and the officials: “Only ourselves to blame with stupid errors and missed tackles. That’s two weeks on the trot we have been and well and truly shafted by the officials. Protecting the big clubs once again.”

Many did believe that it was the performance that let the Leigh Leopards down: “The second half wasn’t good enough. Way too many errors once again when we got within striking distance. Can’t afford to miss chances like that in a tight contest.”

One fan even called out others for blaming the official: “Threw that one away Leigh. Fans need to get a grip blaming the referee. He wasn’t the one missing tackles or attacking poorly in the second half.”

That being said one fan reacting to our “sum it up in three words” post said: “Leigh robbed again!”

Why did Leigh Leopards lose?

So who is to blame for the collapse of the Leigh Leopards in the second half against the Leeds Rhinos. Now some calls did go against them.

Gareth O’Brien’s sin bin was akin to a tactical foul in football and Leigh almost held on without him. The six agains might have been the most damaging for the Leopards.

They did also allow more errors to creep into their game but we can’t take away from the improved performance from Leeds.

They got a roll on speeding up the ruck and then expressed themselves which is when they are most effective.
