Former Leeds Rhinos player Rob Burrow was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in December 2019. Since then, Rob and his family have campaigned tirelessly to raise awareness and funds to support other families living with MND.

The Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon will see over 10,000 participants take on a brand new route through Leeds that starts and finishes at Headingley Stadium. Taking in some of Leeds’ most scenic countryside and outer suburbs, the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon will be a fitting tribute to the city that launched Rob’s career and which he calls home.

The event will be held in support of the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Appeal as well as the MND Association. However, we recognise that many participants will have their own reasons for taking part. As such, entrants are encouraged to raise money for a charity of their choice, or for one of our partner charities.

The likes of Sky Sports pundits Barrie McDermott and Jamie Jones-Buchanan will be involved as will Leeds Rhinos legend Kevin Sinfield and others such as Matt Adamson who has come over from Australia to take part.

The current Leeds squad will be around and former Super League official Richard Silverwood will also be involved.

Former Leeds man and NRL star Luke Burgess is over in the UK for the event as well after his father passed away with MND.

It has now been confirmed that already £1 million has been raised by the marathon for MND which is truly amazing and shows how everyone from rugby league and beyond has banded together in the name of Burrow to fight MND.
