Details for the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon in 2025 have been confirmed with the event set to return for its fourth edition.
The selected date for the 2025 running will be Sunday, May 11th as confirmed by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All operations director Tristan Batley-Kyle.
Next year’s event will mark the first since the passing of Rob Burrow who succumbed to his battle against Motor Neurone Disease in early June, aged just 41.
Burrow had fought the disease since December 2019 but his four-and-half-year battle came to an end on June 2nd when he passed.
His legacy will live on in many ways, not least through his children, but also through the Rob Burrow Centre for MND, which is being built at Seacroft, and now with the confirmed continuation of the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon.
Burrow competed in the 2023 edition which led to the incredibly emotional image of teammate and best mate Kevin Sinfield, who had pushed Rob around the 26.2 mile course, carried him over the line.
Rob Burrow Marathon set for 2025
The confirmation of the renewal of the Marathon was first reported by the BBC who quoted Run For All director Batley-Kyle on just how special the event is.
“We invite participants of all abilities and of all walks of life to lace up their trainers and Run for Rob in 2025,” he explained.
“Rob’s efforts and campaigning to increase awareness of MND and to raise millions to fund a specialist Motor Neurone Disease Care Centre in Leeds, has been truly inspirational.
“We will continue to honour and celebrate Rob, raise funds for so many vital causes and bang the drum for the MND community.”
Earlier this year, over 14,000 people completed the event helping to raise thousands for research to find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease.
The Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease is one of the associated charities with the event for 2025 with ground being broke in the days just after the Rhinos legend’s passing earlier this year.
