Rob Burrow given incredible five-figure cheque

It’s safe to say that Rob Burrow is one of the most inspiring ex-rugby league players to ever walk this earth.

His battle against Motor Neurone Disease and his subsequent fight to raise as much money as possible has largely fallen on the shoulders of long-term friend Kevin Sinfield.

However, there have been a number of other people who have tried to help the MND cause, with the likes of Martyn Clarke, who is going to complete seven half-Ironman challenges in seven days.

An Ironman challenge consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile run, raced in that order.

Of course, Clarke is doing half of that so it will consist of a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile cycle and 13.1-mile run.

Clarke is going to do that seven times, consecutively, to raise money for Rob Burrow and the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

And, now Burrow has been given an incredible five-figure cheque by the Leeds Irish Centre after being invited to a Sports Dinner.

Rob’s father, Geoff, posted this on Twitter: “Today has been another unbelievable day Rob was invited to Leeds Irish Centre for a Sports Dinner. Rob was presented with a cheque for £30,000 towards the fundraising for the Rob Burrow MND Centre. Such wonderful people and so kind. Thank you all and God Bless x”
