RL Rumours: Super League side make signings, Rugby Union captain to switch codes and Leeming destination revealed

Below is a round-up of all the biggest rumours and gossip from the world of rugby league over the past week.

Leeming to leave Leeds

It was rumoured last week that Kruise Leeming wanted out of Leeds and in the recent days it’s simply been confirmed and snowballed into a transfer chase for the former skipper. Initial reports came from Rugby League Live but Rohan Smith then confirmed the news, and Leeming’s management agency have since actively contacted interested parties.

Super League youngster in early NRL switch?

Newcastle Knights of the NRL made a huge double signing in the off-season when they announced that they had signed English youngsters Kai Pearce-Paul and Will Pryce for 2024 onwards. Both are immensely talented and have shone this year in Super League and there are now rumours down under that the Knights want Pearce-Paul earlier, the Daily Telegraph reporting Newcastle would like an immediate switch.

Gold Coast seen as Leeming’s landing spot

Leeds Live have reported that of all the interested parties in Kruise Leeming it’s Gold Coast Titans who are leading the charge. Rohan Smith has since addressed the press to discuss the number nine’s future. He’s also referenced any potential replacements for the hooker.

England winger’s future in doubt

Dom Young had a breakout World Cup in which he scored eight tries in the group stage and that incredible form earned him a move to the powerful Sydney Roosters. Young is scheduled to link up with the Roosters in 2024 however having been dropped for the upcoming fixture the rumours are circulating that the Roosters want him immediately.

Former SL star injury opens Leeming door

Danny Levi was brilliant with Huddersfield Giants and his form earned him a return to the NRL where he has signed with Canberra Raiders, replacing Englishman Josh Hodgson. Levi unfortunately suffered a horrific injury in which he broke his jaw and lost multiple teeth, leaving the Raiders with a happing hole at the hooker position – a role Leeming could easily fill.

English Rugby Union captain interested in code switch

Rugby league quite often feeds rugby union some star players however very few make the successful transition from the 15-man code to 13. Martin Gleeson, former Wigan Warriors legend, has suggested that current England rugby union captain Ellis Genge is interested in taking up rugby league. Gleeson also spoke about the possibility of former England captain Owen Farrell making the long-rumoured switch to rugby league.

Brooks reveals open race for Tigers job

Since Lee Radford’s shock dismissal there has been plenty of speculation as to who the next boss will be at the Jungle. The current man in charge, Andy Last, has made it clear he wishes to take the job full time, whilst others have put their hands up. Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks has revealed two other key candidates that she has heard strongly linked with the Castleford coaching role.

More signings to come at Belle Vue?

Wakefield Trinity have already dipped into the loan market to try and resurrect their season’s losing start and their bad luck with injuries. Sam Hewitt was brought in from Huddersfield and impressed against Salford, and that boost has led Mark Applegarth to open up to the suggestion of more signings. Despite that he’s insisted that players have to be right for Trinity.
