Sadly, reports tonight down under have stated that rising NRL star Liam Hampson was found dead in Barcelona.
Hampson was a star player at the Redcliffe Dolphins, a club set to give birth to the NRL’s newest side The Dolphins in 2023.
The 24-year-old with plenty of potential went on holiday during the off season with a number of NRL stars including Gold Coast Titans fullback AJ Brimson, and Brisbane Broncos duo Jordan Riki and Jesse Arthars.
The three went to Spain but something was amiss when the trio were left frantically searching for Hampson after he was last seen at Barcelona night club Sala Apolo at 4:30 am on Tuesday morning.
Police have since confirmed that a body believed to be Hampson has been found.
The body was located in the aforementioned night club on the floor according to the Daily Mail in Australia.
Our thoughts are with Hampson’s family at this time with both his father and sister taking to social media to remember Liam.
His sister Tiarna understandably said she was “heartbroken” after she had spent the 30 hours previous in a desperate plea to find Liam as did AJ Brimson who said before the event that Hampson was “very out of character.”
It is a sad day for rugby league.
