Richie Myler has been sat out for months for Leeds Rhinos following an injury sustained in the opening 15 minutes of Leeds’ fixture with Warrington Wolves in round one.

The diminutive playmaker needed surgery, but has since returned training following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

And, he has been snapped in Rohan Smith’s first training session since taking over the reins at Headingley from interim coach Jamie Jones-Buchanan.

With the departure of Richard Agar, Jones-Buchanan was tasked with the unenviable aim of stringing some wins together from a side that had won just one game all season up until that point.

Full of vim and vigour, however, Jones-Buchanan managed to pull the side together as they drew one game and won two others to move five points clear of Toulouse Olympique in bottom place in the Super League table.

And, Smith will be buoyed by the training ability of Myler having recovered from that debilitating injury.

Smith conducted his first press conference as Leeds boss earlier on this week and was asked about the off-field issues surrounding Myler and whether or not he would be in contention with a lot going behind the scenes following his split from ex-partner Helen Skelton.

However, Smith had little to say other than that the diminutive playmaker is available.

“I’ve been made aware that there is something,” Smith said.

“But I’m not up to date with it – as far as I am aware he is available.”
