Richie Mathers and Karl Pryce slam Castleford Tigers man’s decision to go on Love Island

Castleford Tigers star Jacques O’Neill may well be heading down a different career path this year.

With the loose forward/hooker out of the Castleford side with a hamstring injury, it’s thought that he could take a break out of the game to star in ITV2’s Love Island, according to Yorkshire Live.

That show is watched by millions each day as contestants try and find love and take home £50,000 at the end of the competition.

Aged just 23, O’Neill is in his fourth season with the Tigers’ first team after debuting in 2019 and has made 29 appearances in that time.

However, it has been a year since the tough, uncompromising forward has played in a Castleford shirt due to injury and it’s unclear what would happen to his future following the series if he does decide to go into the villa.

Nowadays, contestants go on the Love Island series to further their careers in the public with the likes of Tommy Fury and Molly Mae Hague still together after starring on the show back in 2019.

But, one former Super League great, Richie Mathers, is not a fan of the news with a series of tweets exchanged between him and ex-Wigan Warriors and Bradford Bulls man Karl Pryce showing just that.
