Richard Agar opens up on Will Pryce rumours

Will Pryce has signed a new deal at Huddersfield, and, the halfback will be a likely starter as Leeds Rhinos take on the Giants this weekend.

But, for Leeds head coach Richard Agar, keeping Pryce in Super League when NRL clubs were circling was an incredibly important one.

“Naturally there is interest from the NRL, they are always going to look over here for young talent,” Agar said.

“It’s a good sign, it’s just at what age do they take that plunge is very important.

“If you look back at the recent years there hasn’t been a mass exodus to the NRL and those that have gone only have a short window in which to excel.”

Despite Pryce being on the opposite side when the two teams meet, Agar believes the teenager is a real talent.

“Pryce has been exceptional and at a time when there’s some question marks surrounding he sport, I think there are times we need to find some positives and, although he’s not playing for my team, it’s great to see a kid come in and he’s clearly had the ball in his hands from an early age.

“He looks like a born number 6 with the way he plays the game and he’s already a go to player for Huddersfield’s best attacks – he runs and kicks the ball really well.

“For the sport, he’s one we should all get excited about and credit to Huddersfield for bringing him through.”
