Richard Agar confirms Leeds Rhinos duo will leave club as rivals circle

Leeds Rhinos head coach Richard Agar has confirmed that Luke Briscoe and Callum McLelland will leave the club.

It comes after Briscoe has been linked with a move to Featherstone Rovers, whilst McLelland has been rumoured to be linking up with hometown club Castleford Tigers, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Agar, despite allowing the duo to leave, did so with a heavy heart.

“He has carried the ball really strongly all year,” Agar said about Briscoe.

“He has been a terrific guy within the team and I think he has done a really good job for the club over the years.

“He’s another one we will be sad to see go.”

“We have got some young players emerging and we have a salary cap.

“That’s the misfortune of it, most of the guys who are leaving us this year, genuinely we are sorry to see them go.”

The Leeds boss also confirmed that McLelland had been offered a new contract.

“We offered him an option, but we’ve not heard back and we presume he is not going to be here next year.”
