Rhinos player tests negative

Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that the player who was awaiting antigen test results last night has now received them and he and his family member who had displayed symptoms both returned negative tests.

The Rhinos had stood down seven players ahead of last night’s Betfred Super League clash with Huddersfield Giants at the Totally Wicked Stadium as a precaution.

One member of the squad was awaiting the results of an antigen test after a family member displayed Covid-19 symptoms.

As a part of the track and trace protocol, six additional members of the squad who had been in close contact with the player earlier last week did not train on Thursday and were stood down last night as a pre-caution.

All members of the squad will return to training on Monday morning as normal and the entire squad and backroom staff will have their scheduled weekly Covid-19 antigen test on Monday afternoon as planned.
