Rhinos confirm positive Covid-19 test

Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that one player has tested positive for Covid-19 in this week’s round of testing.

The player will now self-isolate, while two further players have also been stood down following track and trace analysis.

The player in question did play in the Rhinos’ game against Huddersfield last week, and as a result the Giants have been forced to make changes to their 21-man squad for Thursday’s game against Wakefield.

Leeds intend to go ahead with this Friday’s Challenge Cup quarter final fixture against Hull KR and were on a scheduled recovery day on Wednesday, meaning their preparations have not been affected.

However, the squad will not return to training until their training facility has been sanitised.

The club have also confirmed that a second player, who returned a negative test on Monday, has reported Covid-19 symptoms as part of the players’ mandatory daily screening programme, and is awaiting the results from a second test taken on Wednesday.
