The RFL are set to investigate an alleged eye gouge that occurred in Newcastle’s heavy loss to promotion favourites Toulouse at the weekend.
The alleged indiscretion happened in the 52nd minute with Thunder’s Evan Simons the apparent culprit and the minutes in the Disciplinary Match Review have revealed that the playmaker will be under further investigation from the governing body.
Toulouse racked up an incredible 82-12 win over Newcastle, with the French side presented with the League Leaders’ Shield.
That victory also meant that Toulouse kept their 100 per cent record remained firmly intact, thanks in large part to an impressive 46 second-half points.
Toulouse take next weekend off as reward for finishing top, before a play-off semi-final tie on home turf – their first home game of 2021 – on Saturday, October 2.
