RFL chief executive Ralph Rimmer lists the things rugby league fans have to look forward to in 2022

RFL chief executive Ralph Rimmer was a guest on Premier Sports last night.

The ‘big cheese’ had attended rugby league great Des Drummond’s funeral procession at the Leigh Sports Village and then was present at Leigh Centurions’ fixture against Widnes Vikings.

The Centurions took on the Vikings in the fourth round of the Challenge Cup with both sides also making great starts to the 2022 league campaign.

For Rimmer, 2022 is going to be an exciting one with much to look forward to for every rugby league fan.

“We’ve got loads to look forward to this season,” Rimmer said live on Premier Sports.

“We’ve started well, bu nevertheless we’ve got trips to Elland Road, the Summer Bash and Tottenham for the Challenge Cup Final and then the Rugby League World Cup at the end of the year.”

With Channel 4, Premier Sports, the BBC and Sky Sports all taking on the broadcasting rights for rugby league in 2022, Rimmer cannot wait to see where the sport is heading.

“We’ve got lots of different broadcast platforms and they all do it differently, so it’s been a breath of fresh air.

“Tottenham is a venue everyone wants to go to – we’ve had a fantastic response from the fans.”
