RFL announces profit yet again

The Rugby Football League has reported a profit for the second year running in 2020.

That profit is despite the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the governing body £25,000 in the black after a profit of £75,000 for 2019.

Even the cancellation of the home Ashes series and the absence of supporters for the Challenge Cup final at Wembley couldn’t halt the RFL’s progress.

And, that is in stark contrast to other sports. The Rugby Football Union lost almost £11m in the same period, but the RFL reduced costs and used the government support to get through the uncertain period.
