It will not have escaped your notice that Josh Griffin was handed a huge seven match ban for an altercation with referee Chris Kendall.
Griffin was sent off against St Helens in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals with Hull FC dreaming of the semi-finals and Wembley as they were all square at 12-all at halftime.
But an argument between Griffin and Kendall saw him sin binned at first but as he kept the conversation going he was then sent off completely in a move that derailed the Black and Whites and led to their defeat.
On Tuesday, Griffin was banned for seven games for a Grade F charge of questioning the integrity of the match official after allegedly calling Kendall a cheat.
Griffin denied this.
This week David Fifita was charged with disputing a decision but received no punishment with it being Grade A.
Many will question why in light of the Griffin saga.
The answer being that Fifita only disputed the decision. Griffin’s punishment stems from what he said.
The word cheat being the key aspect.
Fifita was sin binned by Kendall as Wakefield Trinity lost to Hull KR at the weekend after a big tackle.
Hull KR’s Fouad Yaha was also sin binned for a tackle on Max Jowitt.
