2022 hasn’t been the season Regan Grace would have dreamed of.
It’s been derailed from the very start by persistent injuries so much so that he hadn’t played 80 minutes until yesterday where he came back with a bang with a try and some massive involvements thanks to his elusive running, speed and agility.
Those runs helped set up two tries including a key one for Konrad Hurrell just before halftime and cemented his place as the Man of the Match.
After the game he spoke to Saints TV and reflected upon the result in his first game back: “It was good, we played really well as a team. In the past we haven’t had a lot of success travelling but I think we’re starting to get the hang of it, handling it well to be fair and just took it in our stride.”

He also spoke about how good it was to get over for a try in his comeback game: “It’s been a very long season not being able to do what I’m meant to do really. Scoring tries is always nice so to get one in my first full 80 minutes was amazing.”
There was a sizeable St Helens contingent in France who showered him in love as he played exceptionally well in France resulting in a lovely picture of Grace in front of his adoring fans which made the rounds on social media.

After the game, Grace spoke about the fans and the impact they had: “Wow, there were a decent few of them. They were way louder and the atmosphere was class at the end.”
It remains to be seen if those adoring fans and the success he can achieve at St Helens could tempt him into staying with rugby union sides circling at present leaving him with a decision to make.
After yesterday’s game, his coach Kristian Woolf spoke about this and said that they’re hoping to “finalise” something with Grace and keep him but that no decision has been made yet with the focus being on preparing for this game.
